The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Chen Gang, said that the historical injustice suffered by the Palestinian people should not continue indefinitely, and it is not permissible to bargain with them over their legitimate rights and the establishment of their independent state.

The Chinese minister stressed, during a joint press conference with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, following the session of talks that took place at the headquarters of the Arab League in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, yesterday, Sunday, in the presence of the Assistant Secretary-General of the League, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, the need for the international community to consolidate the two-state solution, adhering to the principle of land for peace, and working steadfastly to advance the praiseworthy efforts to advance the peace process, and the need to send humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, to push for an urgent and just solution towards the Palestinian issue.

The Chinese minister and the Secretary-General of the Arab League stressed their commitment to implementing the outcomes of the first Arab-Chinese summit held in Saudi Arabia last month.

Gang affirmed his country’s keenness to implement the summit’s outputs on the ground, as it issued three main documents that focus on deepening partnership relations for peace and development and building a peaceful society, working to perpetuate the spirit of friendship, achieve economic development goals, maintain peace in the region, and achieve common interests.

He stressed that it was agreed to continue to improve the Arab-Chinese relations and develop cooperation mechanisms, within the framework of the forum, in a way that enhances collective cooperation between the two parties.

In turn, Aboul Gheit stressed that the General Secretariat will continue to implement the axes and documents approved by the Arab-Chinese summit and the activities and programs that were agreed upon during the summit.

He said, “We exchanged visions in all fields, especially with regard to the Arab and regional situations,” expressing his appreciation for China’s positions on many issues, the most important of which is the Palestinian cause and its developments, stressing that China takes a fair stance towards the right of the Palestinian people to their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The meeting discussed strengthening relations between the Arab and Chinese sides in various fields, and they also consulted on a number of Arab, regional and international issues of common concern, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.
