Gaza. Malnutrition kills 15 children at Kamal Adwan Hospital
The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced on Sunday that 15 children died of malnutrition and dehydration in the past few days at Kamal Adwan Hospital.
"We fear for the lives of six children suffering from malnutrition and dehydration in the intensive care unit of Kamal Adwan Hospital as a result of the lack of a generator, oxygen and medical capabilities," said Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra.
Earlier on Saturday, UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell warned that one in six children under the age of two in Gaza is severely malnourished.
She described the reports from Gaza of children killed by malnutrition and dehydration so far as "appalling".
She added on X (formerly Twitter): "Severe malnutrition can lead to death or cause cognitive and physical disabilities in children (...) Every minute counts for Gaza's children in terms of food, water, health care and protection from bullets and bombs."
"This requires an immediate ceasefire," she said.
