Germany’s industrial output went up by 2.1% from the prior month in February, marking its strongest growth in one year, according to official data released on Monday.
The figure was much better than the market forecast of a 0.6% increase for the month, following January’s upwardly revised 1.3% rise.
The improvement was led by a significant rise in the construction industry by 7.9%, according to Destatis, the country’s statistical authority.
By contrast, the drop in production in the energy production sector by 6.5% had a notable negative impact on overall performance.
On an annual basis, industrial production plunged by 4.9% in February.
